There are lots of ways to drive traffic to your website, but the smart thing to do is to have a strategy in your marketing plan in which you retain a portion of that traffic and drive visitors back to your site.

Why Drive Visitors Back to your Website?

It does not make sense if all you do is drive traffic to your site, which will cost you money and not have a system in place to retain a portion of that traffic so that you would not need to spend money again to drive visitors back to your site.

In this blog post, I am going to show you the five smart ways to drive visitors back to your site every time without necessarily spending money.

  1. Retarget your Visitors

Retargeting may sound complicated if you have never done it, but it is simple.

It requires you placing a line of code gotten from Facebook or Google on your website.

This code lets you know who has visited your site, so you can show them more ads at a fraction of the cost to keep you in their mind.

These people are a warm audience.

If somebody took the time to check out your website, the chances are that they will check you out again, hence the need to retarget them.

These people are most likely to buy from you than your cold audience.

I am sure you have noticed that there are certain websites you visit and their ads seem to follow you about on the internet, you can do that too to people who have once visited your website.

So quite frankly, if you are not retargeting in your business, you are wasting money and leaving too many potential clients on the table.

  1. Collect Emails on your Website

I want to appeal to you earnestly; if you have a website, you must collect emails on it!

Your email list is your most valuable asset in Digital Marketing, so you must consciously build it.

Give out a digital value for free in exchange for your visitor’s Email, then nurture them by adding value through the emails you send.

This strategy will drive them further down your funnel and get them primed to buy from you.

My rule of thumb is, send 80% informational content and 20% promotional content.

If you do well with your informational content, your subscribers will be receptive to your promotional material.

So please have an Opt-in Box, Exit Pop-Ups and Sliders installed on your website to collect emails.

  1. Use Push Notification

Install a push notification service on your website.

That way, you can send messages to your subscribers on their browsers no matter what website in the world they are on.

You can prompt your visitors with a simple message like “Hey, would you like to receive notifications of my best contents on your browser”?

  1. Use Content Upgrades

A content upgrade is repurposing your content in another format.

So you can use the post gopher tool to automatically convert the posts on your WordPress blog into a PDF Ebook which you can give to your visitors in exchange for their Email.

It could be that the visitor likes the post but would like to study it more in-depth later, or they would like to send the content to someone else who is not online at the time or for whatever reason.

Content upgrades have proven to be an excellent way to grow your email list.

With a content upgrade, you would have an opt-in form at the end of every post allowing your readers to download the PDF format of the very post that they are on.

  1. Launch an Evergreen Contest

An evergreen contest is one that is running continuously – i.e., No end date.

For the simple reason that the contest is evergreen, it makes more sense that the offer to be won is digital; ideally, you would want to give away substantial information in a PDF, Podcast or Video format, this way you can afford to give to as many people as possible.

The hard part of any giveaway is to be sure that your offer is highly valuable enough to motivate your prospects to want to be part of the contest.

If you succeed in coming up with a valuable offer for your evergreen contest, then you will build a sizeable email list and a robust community pretty fast.
